I’m not sure about you, but parent-teacher conferences always make me just a teeny tiny bit nervous. Generally, all of my parents are absolutely wonderful, but there’s always that off chance that the conference could go awry. Regardless, dressing professionally during parent-teacher conferences is of paramount importance because, in my opinion, it allows me to feel ready to take on any challenge that faces me (even those dicey conferences).
Aside from back to school night, conferences are one time that I definitely make sure I’m looking as professional as possible. The three outfits below are some of my go-to looks for conferences. These looks are comfortable enough to wear all day teaching and to make the transition into conferences until 6pm each night.
I chose these three looks to show you that you can take a very simple look— button-up and a sweater—and mix those pieces with a different bottom to utilize various items in your wardrobe. Using these same outfits as inspiration, see what you already have in your closet that you can mix and match. For example, you could put together pink bottoms with a chambray button up and a grey sweater—all using the same concept as the looks below.
Parent-Teacher Conference Look #1
-
Button-up
-
Sweater
-
Midi-skirt
-
Wedges or flats
What I love about this look: The midi-skirt is really a great look for almost any body type. It’s especially flattering if you have hips! They’re also incredibly stylish in the classroom while still staying conservative.
Parent-Teacher Conference Look #2
-
Button-up
-
Sweater
-
Trousers
-
Wedges or flats
What I love about this look: When you find comfortable trousers, it makes looking professional pretty easy, especially when you’ll be on the go all day during conferences. (These Sloan Slim Ankle pants from Banana Republic Factory that I’m wearing are incredibly stretchy while staying form-fitting. An extra plus? They’re a decent price point!)
Parent-Teacher Conference Look #3
-
Button-up
-
Sweater
-
Dress (layered underneath)
-
Tights
-
Booties, wedges, or flats
What I love about this look: It gives you the opportunity to make use of some of those dresses that might get tucked away all winter. Use your spring/fall dresses as a layering piece underneath your button-up and sweater.
